Former Mariner Cha Seung Baek, the Korean right-hander who last pitched in the big leagues two years ago, is in camp today for a minor league tryout.
Now 29, Baek spent parts of four seasons with Seattle, then pitched half a season with San Diego. A year ago, he pitched in the Padres minor league system, then was released.
Baek has a 16-18 career record with a 4.83 earned run average. If the tryout goes well, the best he can hope for this spring is a shot at making the Tacoma Rainiers roster.
