Jack Wilson came out of the training room this morning and was immediately surrounded by media asking just how bad his hamstring strain is - and it turns out, it's so bad he's about to go practice with the team.
"It's just tightness, and I just found out it was caused by over-stretching," Wilson said of his right hamsstring. "It's kind of irritated, and this time of year it's not worth pushing it.
"I felt it yesterday in the field but I wanted another at-bat. On first base and told (coach) Lee Tinsley about it and said I was going to run about 80 per cent - and then Ichiro had to hit a triple."
Wilson scored from first base, then came out as a precaution, he said, not because he was badly hurt.
"It's not serious. I'm going to work out with the team today and if it goes well I'll play in the game tomorrow, which is what I was scheduled to do," Wilson said. "It really isn't an issue."
Wilson working out with the team likely means defensive drills and, in his case, diving for balls. We'll see whether he's cleared to play in a game tomorrow.
