Not a lot going on in Manager Don Wakamatsu's pregame meeting with the media.
LHP Cliff Lee will throw a simulated game on Tuesday and then if all goes well, which it should, he will make a rehab start on Sunday, April 25th, most likely in Tacoma since the Rainiers are in town.
The Mariners still have not received on Lee's suspension appeal, but either way, it looks as though he would start on May 2nd against Texas at Safeco Field.
Right now the hope for LHP Erik Bedard is to be back by late May. Unlike Lee, Bedard would have to make at least a couple rehab starts before pitching for the Mariners.
Tonight's starting pitcher Brad Bergesen hasn't been good this season, but he's been decent against the Mariners. He has made three starts and is 1-1 with a 2.14 ERA with seven walks and 13 strikeouts. In one start last season in Baltimore, he pitched eight shutout innings, allowing five hits and striking out six in a 3-1 win.
Franklin Gutierrez is hitting .500 (4-for-8) against Bergesen, and is hitting .489 (22 -for-45) against the O's in 16 career games with 9 runs, 5 doubles, 1 triple, 2 HRs and 9 RBI.
Also of note, Ichiro has the highest career batting average against Baltimore in history. He is hitting .365 (129-for-353) with 66 runs scored, 13 doubles, 5 triples, 7 home runs and 32 RBI in 84 games against the O's. He also currently has an 18 game hitting streak against Baltimore.
