First of all, since today is June 7th and it's an important day, since it's my mom's birthday. And yes, I called her. I even got her a gift -- it's an Yuniesky Betancourt jersey. Just kidding. We got her a mochi maker. But anyway, a happy birthday to Patsy Divish. I don't think she reads this regularly. But if she did then all the better.
It's roughly a few degrees cooler than this ...
And probably way more humid. I know people in Seattle don't want to hear about the heat. But it's about 95 with 50 percent humidity, meaning you start sweating like Carlos Silva at an In and Out burger. I shouldn't make fun of Carlos. He won again today and is now 8-0 this season. He is going to make the all-star game. How is this possible? Then again A-Rod has a world series ring, Ben Affleck somehow convinced Jennifer Garner to marry him and Eric Byrnes is getting paid $11 million this year to play slowpitch softball. Life is fair.
Milton Bradley with a solid line drive for a single. But that's about it.
Cliff Lee makes quick work of the Rangers top of the order.
UPDATE: If you hadn't already noticed, Lee Tinsley is coaching third tonight and Mike Brumley, who returned from his daughter's graduation, is coaching first. This change will be permanent.Second inning
Well the Mariners are in business as Michael Saunders ripped a three-run homer to right. His third of the season. Figgins gets a hit at the No. 9 spot and later steals second with Ichiro at the plate. But then he's thrown out at third. The M's lead 3-0.
Figgins makes a brilliant diving catch for the third out of the inning.
M's push a run across on Rob Johnson's RBI single. No that's not a typo.
Cliff Lee works fast. I like it.
Not sure I like seeing Milton Bradley sac bunting.
Cliff Lee gives up a pair of hits, but gets out of the inning by getting Josh Hamilton ground out.
M's go down 1-2-3.
The Rangers get a few more hits, but Lee still works out getting Andres Blanco to ground out to end the inning.
Chone Figgins with his second hit of the night. But he's stranded there as Matt Harrison gloves a hard ground ball up the middle.
Lee just seems to get stronger, he struck out Michael Young for the second straight time, and then got Ian Kinsler looking on a nasty pitch.
M's go down 1-2-3, so do the Rangers.
Lee is just cruising along and carving up hitters.
I'm sure Wakamatsu would have liked to see the Mariners add a few runs. But he'll have to settle with four, which is better than average for this team.
Well this got a little interesting Lee gave up three hits, a run on an RBI single, makes an error that leads to a run and then finds a way to get out at the end. Good win for the M's 4-2.
