Tacoma pitcher Chris Seddon and major league veteran Jamey Wright have been added to the Seattle Mariners 25-man roster today, while veteran Chad Cordero elected to become a free agent and reliever Sean White was sent to Tacoma.
Wright, a 35-year-old had pitched with Cleveland, then Oakland's AAA affiliate this season before opting out of a minor league contract there. He signed a big-league deal and was added to Seattle's roster - where he likely will become a long reliever.
Seddon, 26, went 10-4 with a 3.39 ERA in 18 games, 15 starts with Tacoma and was tied for the league lead in wins (10), shutouts (2) and complete games (2). It's likely he will slide into Cliff Lee's spot in the Mariners rotation.
Both White, 29, and Cordero, 28, both struggled in relief this season. White will work on his pitching with the Rainiers. Cordero declined the assignment and became a free agent.
