We haven't done a minor league report lately. Why? I have no excuse for it. I must have had a mental block like Jose Lopez running the bases, while giving a Chone Figgins like effort on an overthrown ball from the outfield.
Anyway, as I promised before, I will try to be more vigilant. Perhaps it will be easier to just post the link to the PDF version like we receive it.
So here is today's REPORT.
Let's get to a few notes and links ...
First let's start in Class A High Desert where second baseman Kyle Seager extended his hit streak to 31 games. Last year Jamie McOwen had a 45-game hit streak for the Mavs. Seager is hitting .342 with a .413 OBP. Meanwhile teammate Johermyn Chavez has a 17-game hitting streak ... a word of caution about these numbers. High Desert and the Cal League can inflate a player's stats quite easily.
If you aren't keeping up with Mike Curto's Tacoma Rainiers blog ... you should be.
My buddy Doug Pacey was covering the Rainiers game in which Dustin Ackley came in as a pinch hitter and delivered the game-winning sacrifice fly.
Doug also wrote this feature on Ackley the other day ...
Over at Class A Clinton, shortstop Nick Franklin is tied for the Midwest League in home runs with 18. Franklin was on with Ian Furness the other day for a very entertaining interview. I love the kids confidence.
