So between now and yesterday, I've been searching for a blog post. Nothing came to mind. I have writer's block. What can I write about this team that hasn't been said.
I decided against writing a dissertation on why I was against firing Don Wakamatsu. I've done that before --- here and here. If you are looking for my feelings about it, you can also listen to my mini rant on KJR the day of the firing.
My story for the paper today discusses some possible managerial candidates, and GM Jack Zduriencik's comment in a radio interview that he may be looking for someone with big league managing experience.
My thoughts on the whole process ... "Meh."
Never miss a local story.
I don't know how much a manager will make a difference. And certainly it's difficult to make any decent assessments because of how much the roster will likely turn over yet again in the offseason.
And I totally overrate fiery personalities and such. Bobby Cox, who seems fiery when he gets tossed out of a game every week, but he's not when it comes to his players. In fact, he and Wakamatsu are very much the same when it comes to dealing with players. And Wakamatsu could have gotten ejected every game and it wasn't going to help him with some of these players.
I could have written about trading Chone Figgins to the Braves with the injury to Chipper Jones, but USS Mariner's Dave Cameron already has, and said basically all that I would have said, minus the pop culture references and the Blake Lively photo.
Should I write about how the team should DFA Jose Lopez after the Aug. 31 waiver trade deadline? I could, but really we all know that should happen.
So I am taking suggestions for ideas.
What should we be talking about this team? Cause talking about the on-field play is relatively uninteresting.
And since I ran by the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame today ... I thought I'd leave you with this from 25th anniversary Rock N Roll Hall of Fame concert which I've watched about 30 times on HBO ...
