Going to have to be quick... since I'm behind on all my stuff. We wasted a lot of time waiting for Milton Bradley to tell us he had nothing to say.
On this day in 1935, the United States Social Security Act was passed, creating a government based pension system.
Never miss a local story.
Other birthdays today include, Magic Johnson (1959), Tim Tebow (1987) and Juan Pierre.
Today's musical selection is one of my favorites. Jackson Browne was inducted into the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
The M's take a 1-0 lead as Ichiro leads off with a single, Chone Figgins follows with a single and Russell Branyan hits into a double play that allows Ichiro to score.
M's starter Jason Vargas gives up a double to one-time Mariner Asdrubal Cabrera. But a nice throw by Josh Bard on a ball in the dirt cuts him down at third as he attempted to advance.
Josh Bard gets a two-out single, but that's about it.
Vargas looks sharp with a 1-2-3 inning.
The M's get a pair of runners on with two outs, but Jose Lopez pops out to first.
Ahh, Vargas, another 1-2-3
The M's load the bases as Josh Bard doubles, Michael Saunders walks and Josh Wilson singles. Ichiro works a walk on 11 pitches to get another run as the M's lead 2-0.
The Indians tie the game at 2-2. Asdrubal Cabrera leads off with a single, and then scores on Jayson Nix's two-out double. Really it looked like Michael Saunders should have made the catch, but he took an odd route to the ball and it got by him. Nix would score on Andy Marte's single to left. But Josh Bard helped Vargas get out of the inning by picking off Marte at first to end the rally.
Russell Branyan gives the Mariners back the lead with a homer to left-center off of Mitch Talbot. The M's then load the bases as Lopez singles and Andy Marte boots back to back balls at third base. Manny Acta pulls Talbot for Hector Ambriz to face Josh Bard.
Bard watches a fastball go by and then sits on a 92mph fastball and crushes it to right-center for his first career grand slam. Needless to say fans here aren't pleased. I'm not sure who they were booing more Bard or Marte. So Mariners fans remember if you get mad about Jose Lopez at first, remember Cleveland has their own version in Marte.
M's lead 7-2.
The M's tack on two more as Casey Kotchman homers to right for a two-run shot. Who are these guys.
The Indians answer ... sort of ... as Jayson Nix hits a solo homer to center. He hit the ball a long way.
The Indians are not very good. Then again with the exception of Choo, Cabrera and Carmona, it's a Triple A team.
