No, it's not a move that will change the Seattle lineup, but having catcher Guillermo Quiroz on the September roster may give manager Daren Brown a little more leaverage late in games.
Quiroz, 28, played with both the Tacoma Rainiers and the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx, batting a combined .286 with seven home runs and 46 RBI in 91 games. Quiroz has played with Toronto, Texas and Baltimore in his career as a reserve catcher, battin .206 in the big leagues.
He will be the No. 3 catcher on the team, behind Adam Moore and Josh Bard.
