Manager Eric Wedge is delighted Ken Griffey Jr. is returning to the Seattle Mariners and will be in camp at some point this spring - and he's reached out to other prominent former players.
"Someone like Ken Griffey Jr. can give kids direction, so you make sure you bring him in and let him make an impact," Wedge said. "A lot can be taken from a Hall of Fame player. I've talked to Edgar (Martinez), Jay (Buhner) and Dan (Wilson), too, and hope they can come in this spring.
"Compared to teams that have been around 100 years, the history of the Mariners is not a thick book," he said. "Players should know and respect that hisory. The more you know, the more passionate you become about the organization."
