The Mariners made two more cuts this morning, optioning right-hander Yoervis Medina to Class A High Desert and right-hander Blake Beavan to minor league camp.
Both pitchers threw on Saturday for the Mariners.
Beavan pitched against the A's in Cactus League action and looked pretty solid, working three innings and allowing one run on three hits.
"I thought Beavan was really good," Wedge said after the game. "He's another young pitcher that is doing a very good job this camp of getting better, making some adjustments, getting more comfortable on the rubber and in his setting. I thought he threw the ball really well."
Beavan made three appearances and had a 1-0 record with 6.43 ERA. He threw 5 2/3 innings, allowing five runs on nine hits and had two walks and three strikeouts.
Beavan, who was acquired in the Cliff Lee trade, figures to be in the starting rotation for the Rainiers this season.
Medina pitched in yesterday's simulated game that featured Felix Hernandez. Medina struggled with his command, he threw three innings giving up two runs on three hits, he walked two batters, hit another and struck out three.
