Since the newly renovated Cheney Stadium open last week, the Tacoma Rainiers have not been able to get a win. It's not that they dislike the new stadium. Instead, the combination of erratic pitching from the bullpen, lack of hitting and roster issues brought on by injuries and the Mariners have all taken their toll on the team.
But last night, the Rainiers were able to finally get a win. Josh Bard and Johan Limonta had big RBI singles and Alex Liddi went 2-for-2 with two sacrifice flies. Dustin Ackley extended his hitting streak to 10 games, and he's also reached base in all 14 of Tacoma's games. His OBP is .364. Bard also has an 11-game hitting streak.
The Jackson General scored 10 runs, but it wasn't enough to beat the Montgomery Biscuits, who scored 11 runs. It doesn't help when the bullpen blows a six-run lead.
At Class A High Desert, the Mavericks lost 3-2 to Lancaster. Denny Almonte had his streak of homers in four straight games snapped. But he did extend his hitting streak eight games.
Class A Clinton dropped a pair of games in a double header
