The Tacoma Rainiers picked up a much needed win in Salt Lake. Of course, the Rainiers being the Rainiers of late, it wasn't easy. The game went 12 innings. But Dustin Ackley h it an opposite field two-run double proved to be the game-winning hit. It was just the Rainiers' second win in the last 12 games. Also it's noteworthy that Josh Lueke pitched two scoreless innings - the ninth and tenth. Double A Jackson also went 12 innings last night, but lost to Mobile, 7-5. Infielder Kyle Seager went 4-for-6 and is hitting .312 (24-for-77) this season.
At Class A High Desert, Ken Griffey Jr. and Dan Wilson were in Adelanto to take in the game as coaches. But the Mavericks still lost. It didn't help they had to face Joel Pineiro, who was making a rehab outing, pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing no runs on six hits, while striking out two. . Vinnie Catricala and Denny Almonte - two of the teams hottest hitters, had two hits each.
Class A Clinton continued to struggle, getting roughed up by Peoria, 14-3.
