It was a pretty standard pregame meeting with Mariners manager Eric Wedge. In the video above, he discusses moving Jack Cust to sixth in the order and talks about some of Cust's struggles.
Wedge was quite pleased to have Justin Smoak back and in the lineup.
"I think it will be good for him to be back here," Wedge said. "It's nice to see him after a tough week for him. We'll see how he feels physically and where he's at."
Wedge said he's going to find ways to get Adam Kennedy in the lineup still. But tonight facing a lefty and with the off day, it will be a nice break for the 35-year-old infield.

Wedge said he has no set role for hard-throwing reliever Dan Cortes. They will kind of use him in different situations.
"In my short term experience talking to other people about him, it's just about him having the right tempo out there and just slowing it down to a pace that allows him to go out there and pitch effectively.
