The Seattle Mariners grabbed veteran reliever Jeff Gray on waivers from the Chicago White Sox today, and will make room for him in their bullen when he arrives in Cleveland tomorrow.
Gray, 29, was 0-0 with a 2.70 ERA in sixgames with the White Sox this season and four of those six appearances have been scoreless - including three shutout innings against the Angels on May 10.
Gray has pitched in parts of four big league seasons with the Athletics, Cubs an White Sox. His career numbers in 43 big-league games: the A’s (2008-2009), Cubs (2010) and White Sox (2011). He has a career mark of 1-1, 4.36 in 42 games.
To make room for Gray, one of the two rookies in the bullpen - Dan Cortes and Tom Wilhelmsen - will likely be outrighted to Tacoma.
