Taijuan Walker had his best outing of his very brief professional career. Last year's top draft pick had made a couple s0-so starts for Class A Clinton since debuting a few weeks ago. But on Sunday, he had special performance. He dominated for 6 1/3 innings, taking a no-hitter through five innings and striking out 11 hitters. He allowed just one run on two hits and didn't walk a batter. Perhaps more impressive - of the 19 outs he got, 11 were strikeouts and eight were fly balls.
Walker's outing helped Clinton snap an eight-game losing streak. DH Matt Browning also 3-for-5 and drove in four runs for Clinton.
The Rainiers won yesterday and Mike Carp hit three home runs, which we talked about earlier, but it's also worth mentioning that Dustin Ackley was 4-for-6 and has raised average to .263. He is hitting .341 (21-for-61) with six doubles and three homers and 12 RBI. His on-base percentage is .453 (13 walks) and slugging was .590.
Double A Jackson scored a season high 15 runs in a 15-5 win over Huntsville.
Class A High Desert rolled to a 10-4 win over Rancho Cucamonga. Vinnie Catricala had three hits, including a double and a homer for the Mavs.
