Never miss a local story.
Double A Jackson continued to play well, picking up a 4-2 win over Mississippi. Jake Shaffer went 3-for-4 and was a double away from hitting for the cycle. Josh Fields (remember him) pitched 1 2/3 hitless innings, striking out two to get his third save. Here's Fields' quote from the story:
"I've been thinking too much," Fields said. "I decided not to think and go out and throw. Our pitchers were throwing strikes ... making pitches. The Lord really blessed me. I kept the ball down for the first time all year."Class A Clinton lost 5-3 to Peoria
. Hard-throwing prospect Taijuan Walker threw 4 2/3 innings, giving up two runs on seven hits, while walking two and striking out three. Catcher Steve Baron, who has been slumping at the plate, hit a home run for the Lumber Kings.
