Greetings from Cheney Stadium where they are playing a day game with 11:35 start and about 5,000 school kids have invaded the stadium. I can expect lots of Bieber and Miley music ... and no, I don't listen to them every day.
Double A Jackson was swept in a double header yesterday. Mariners reliever Shawn Kelley, who's rehabbing with Jackson, made the start in the first game and struggled a little. He hit the first batter of the game, and later gave up a double and a single and threw a wild pitch. But a dropped third strike made all three runs unearned. Tom Wilhelmsen made his second appearance with the Generals and struggled, pitching two innings and giving up five run (four earned) on five hits, including a home run, with a walk and a strikeout. Offensively, Carlos Triunfuel was 2-for-3 with two doubles for the Generals.
In the nightcap, starter Anthony Vazquez was roughed for eight runs on 11 hits. Scott Savastano had four hits for the Generals.
The Rainiers picked up a 5-3 win as Mike Carp hit a game tying home run and Alex Liddi hit the go-ahead home run.
Class A High Desert lost 14-2 and Visalia starter took a no-hitter into the seventh against the Mavs. Dennis Raben homered in his third straight game for High Desert.
Class A Clinton lost again. Kalian Sams and Kevin Rivers both hit homers.
