The Tacoma Rainiers had last night's game against the Nashville Sounds rained out last night, giving them and me a much needed day off (first in 12 days for me). And because the Rainiers only play Nashville once this season, they can't postpone it till later in the summer. That means a doubleheader tonight at Cheney Stadium, starting at 6 p.m. It will be two seven-inning games.
Right-hander Blake Beavan (1-1, 5.76 ERA) will start Game 1 for the Rainiers. Nashville will go with right-hander Amaury Rivas (3-3, 3.73). The Game 2 starter for the Rainiers will be knuckleballer Charlie Haeger, who has been in Tacoma and working out the past few days. He will be activated and pitch in that game. Haeger has been on the disabled list with a back injury.

The 18-inning affair tied for the longest game in Generals/Diamond Jaxx history. The previous longest was in July of 2000, ironically against the BayBears. The 2nd game lasted 4 hours and 47 minutes making the running total of baseball in the two games, 7 hours and 8 minutes.
Class A High Desert picked up a 9-7 win in 11 innings as Dennis Raben hit a walk-off grand slam. Raben has now homered in his last four games and six of his last seven. Nick Franklin went 5-for-6 with a homer.
