Fans got some bonus baseball at Cheney Stadium last night as the Rainiers and Colorado Springs Sky Sox went 14 innings. Our intrepid intern and current University of Montana journalism school student (Go Griz!) Chris Wells was at the game. He got to have some fun covering a game on an extreme deadline. Even after working in this business for 10 years, it never gets easy.
To his credit, he filed a solid story about the Rainiers losing in the 14th on Jordan Pacheco's double. It's interesting to note that Rainiers pitchers combined for nine straight no-hit innings in the course of the game.
Double A Jackson is on the all-star break, but several players played in the game ... here's the game story.
Class A High Desert was also on the all-star break. Here's the game story
Never miss a local story.
Class A Clinton was also on all-star break. James Paxton was the lone representative in the game and there were reports of him hitting 96 mph with his fastball.
Remember big lefty Tony Butler, who was part of the Erik Bedard trade. Well, he's back in the Mariners organization trying to keep his career alive. Nice story by Nick Patterson.
Class A Pulaski lost 5-3.
And we also have a Mariners Arizona League box score in the report.
