Catcher Jose Yepez is headed back to Tacoma after clearing waivers and being outrighted to the Rainiers. The Mariners designated Yepez for assignment last week when they called up Blake Beavan. Yepez was with Seattle for six games, but did not get into a game, which is a shame. It's too bad they couldn't find him just one at-bat. Who knows if he will ever get there again.
Speaking of the Rainiers, they were cruising toward a win with lefty Anthony Vasquez looking relatively sharp against Reno. But Cesar Jimenez came in and gave back the lead to Reno quite quickly in a 6-2 loss. Also Ryan Langerhans lost his 22 game hitting streak.
Double A Jackson lost 9-7 to Birmingham. Right-hander Tom Wilhelmson made his longest start of the season, pitching 6 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on four hits. But the bullpen coughed it up in a 9-7 loss.
Vinnie Catricala hit a two-run homer and is now batting .386 (17x44) with 9 runs scored, 5 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs and 12 RBI in his last 10 games with Jackson.
Class A High Desert lost4-2 to Inland Empire. Right-hander Jandy Sena gave the Mavs a good start, but a late homer off the bullpen cost them a win.
Class A Everett lost 3-1 to Boise, but starter Jordan Shipers had a decent outing for the Aqua Sox.
