The rumors began to circulate on Twitter before we arrived at Fenway Park. And then once we arrived, we received confirmation from team sources. And finally when we walked into his office, we got visual confirmation. Mariners manager Eric Wedge had made a rather serious and surprising change to jumpstart his slumping team.
HE SHAVED OFF HIS MUSTACHE!
"Drastic times, drastic measures," he said.
Really it's not some sort search for luck or trying to remove some jinx, he shaved it off last night in hopes of coming in today and getting a few laughs from his team.
"I hope they didn't push forward that t-shirt order," he said of the "Fear the Stache" t-shirts being sold at Safeco Field.
When Wedge was managing Cleveland, he was usually clean shaven or with a little stubble.
