The Rainiers moved to the top of the Pacific Coast League with a 5-4 win in The Springs. . Jeremy Bonderman pitched four innings giving up one run on five hits with two walks no strikeouts. He threw just 71 pitches. It was a little interesting that he was pulled early, considering his pitch count has been built up. It may have to do with what Brandon Maurer was doing in Seattle at the same time.
It's well known that Bonderman has a June 1 opt out. The Mariners will make a decision in the next few days whether they will select Bonderman from Triple A and put him on the 25-man roster. If they choose not to, Bonderman will become a free agent. One of the decisions facing the Mariners is making room on the 40-man roster for Bonderman.
Dustin Ackley went 0-for-4 in his first game with the Rainiers. Mike Zunino hit a deep game-tying home run to dead center (video above: don't forget about the altitude). Stefen Romero had the g0-ahead hit (below)
Down in Jackson, Erasmo Ramirez, who had been sidelined with triceps discomfort, made his 2013 debut with the Generals. Ramirez pitched five innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts. He threw 73 pitches.
Never miss a local story.
