The Mariners have signed first-round draft pick DJ Peterson to his professional contract, along with 12 other draftees. Peterson, a slugging third baseman, was selected with the 12th overall pick out of the University of New Mexico.
With the new slotting system, signing players is much a quicker process. And Peterson said his agents understood that he wanted to get his professional career started as soon as possible and didn't want a long drawn out process.
Peterson took batting practice with the Mariners today, blasting a few homers. He then met with the media (video above).
Peterson confirmed that he will be heading to Everett to join the Aqua Sox.
