The Tacoma Rainiers (44-32) return home following an 11-game road swing with the top place in the Pacific Coast League standings.
James Paxton (4-5, 5.18 ERA) kicks off the Rainiers' 11-game homestand against the Fresno Grizzlies tonight. Paxton is the fourth ranked prospect in the Mariners organization according to Baseball America.
He was the organization's top ranked active prospect with the Rainiers until last night.
The Mariners called up Taijuan Walker, ranked No. 2 behind Mike Zunino according to Baseball America, and he is schedule to start Tuesday against Fresno's Mike Kickham.
Paxton and Walker are two of the Mariner's dubbed "Big 3" pitching prospects along with Danny Hultzen, who is currently out with a shoulder injury.
Other headliners in tonight's lineup include Dustin Ackley at leadoff. It's his first game playing the outfield in Tacoma (He was first notified he's play out there in the Rainiers first of the 11-game road trip in Las Vegas). He is batting .389, while Brad Miller is hitting .337 batting No. 2. Miller has hit safely each of his past 17 games.
We are about to talk to Taijuan Walker. We'll post what he says shortly.
