The Tacoma Rainiers had a little bonus baseball last night, picking up a 9-8 win in 14 innings. The game last 5 hours and 29 minutes. Thankfully I wasn't there. Scott Savastano ended the marathon with a sac fly in the bottom of the 14th.
Mike Curto wraps up the game with his blog. There are some fantastic notes in it ... like this one:
- We knew we were in for a long one when the ninth inning wrapped up, and it was tied, and it was 10:53 PM. It took 3 hours, 48 minutes to get through nine innings – and we weren’t even close to being finished.
The Generals got a solid start from Roenis Elias, who pitched seven innings allowing one run on eight hits with a walk and six strikeouts.
Class A High Desert blew an 11-6 lead and lost 14-11 to Lancaster. Patrick Kivlehan, the reigning Cal League player of the game, tripled and drove in three runs.
Class A Clinton completed a three-game sweep of Quad Cities with a 6-1 win. Starter David Holman pitched 7 2/3 innings, giving up one run on six hits with a walk and six strikeouts.
Class A Everett returned home after 10 games on the road, but played sloppily in a 5-1 loss to Eugene.
