The Major League Baseball Players Association released the following list of 139 players who became eligible Monday for free agency.
There are three Mariners on the list: right-handed pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma, outfielder Franklin Gutierrez and lefty reliever Joe Beimel.
Clubs retain an exclusive negotiating window with their former players until 9:01 p.m. PST on Friday. Prior to then, clubs must make a qualifying offer — a one-year guaranteed contract for $15.8 million — in order to receive a compensatory draft pick if the player eventually signs elsewhere.
A club receives no compensation if it fails to tender a qualifying offer. Players who receive a qualifying offer have one week to accept it or reject it. Players who reject an offer can continue to negotiate with their former club.
As of 9:01 p.m. PT on Friday, players are free to sign with a new club.
