Ed Hochuli's popularity in Seattle soared with his decision not to run 10 seconds off the clock as the Seahawks committed an illegal-formation penalty while hurrying into position for the winning field goal Sunday in St. Louis. Except it really wasn't a decision so much as an interpretation, and a correct one (it's not his fault the rule seems to make little sense). Meanwhile, the Seahawks' other favorite official, Larry Nemmers, was hitting the trifecta in Dallas. Three replay challenges, three reversals. That's a rough day, but at least he was honest. Nemmers, of course, was the official who rankled the Hawks by, in their words, trying to slow down their tempo against Arizona earlier in the season. Also notable this week: Ron Winter is the last NFL official who hasn't had a ruling overturned by replay, while Bill Carollo has been reversed only once despite tying for the league high with eight total challenges. Don't mess with these guys, in other words. In any event, our weekly officiating breakdown is below.
