We'll hear a lot about poison pills and left guards this week. Coach Mike Holmgren, asked again about Steve Hutchinson's controversial departure to the Vikings, had this to say during his press conference today: "This is old news, but as far as the structure of any contract like that, I don't think clubs should do that. We're competing like crazy against one another. To me, it's a little bit against the spirit of the rule. There are loopholes and you can get some smart guys figuring out how to do things and find a little way to do something, but to me it's against the spirit of the rule. I know on the field there are unwritten rules that players use, that we as coaches use with one antoher, and that's what I see that as. I would hope that it wouldn't happen again to anybody, not just us. I just don't think it's part of the deal. ... I just didn't like it. I didn't think. It surprised me. The whole thing surprised a lot of people throughout the NFL, not just in our building. ... Obviously, we didn't want to lose Steve. If we had known then what we know now, we would have done it different."
