One week ago, Seattle ranked 31st in red-zone touchdown percentage allowed. Playing the red-zone-challenged Vikings was supposed to help, but here the Hawks are, still 31st in a category that proved telling last season. Lots of people underrated Seattle's defense down the stretch in 2005, but those guys ranked among the top five in the red zone (second at season's end). Recent Super Bowl teams have almost invariably been strong in that area. It's not happening for Seattle so far this season. I would consider it an anomaly that San Diego is 32nd in red-zone defense. Denver leads the way, allowing only two touchdowns in 13 red-zone trips. My feeling is that the Chargers will have to improve in that area to win playoff games. In any event, league-wide sortable rankings through Week 7 are right about here. Make that here.
