We have updated NFL rankings that show Seattle 23rd in total offense and total defense (that is what you call balance). These sortable rankings show 18 categories for offense and defense. I have highlighted the lines with Seattle and Oakland stats given that they'll be playing in the Monday night game. The Seattle defense inched up to 29th in red-zone touchdown percentage. I reference this stat a lot because it's what made Seattle's defense better than people realized last season, and because Super Bowl defenses tend to rank high in this category. Coach Mike Holmgren dismissed red-zone stats Monday, noting that it's important to check them after the season. But it's no coincidence right now that Baltimore, Denver, New England and Chicago lead the league in this category. Those teams have very good defenses. Oakland's defense is better than one might think. The Raiders are fifth in red-zone defense. Anyway, this Excel file is here.
