The grounds crew is busy drying the playing surface here at rain-soaked Qwest Field. Watching the mist fall outside, it's easy to forget how many games we went without rain here. We made it about three seasons, as I recall. It was pouring on the drive up from Tacoma, but the rain wasn't nearly as bad here at the stadium. It's definitely coming down, but we have seen worse. I distinctly remember horizontal rain during a game against the Raiders at Husky Stadium five or six years ago. That was as bad as I've seen in person, and yet the field held up incredibly well. The drainage systems are remarkable for these synthetic fields. The Seahawks had Qwest's surface covered until recently. Now they are dragging a squeegee-type device behind a small John Deere tractor. I'm thinking it would be a big story if Randy Moss (or anyone else) ran a fly pattern into a tractor. Several Raiders are on the field playing catch withing 10 yards of the tractor.
