Remember when the Seahawks brought in Derrick Burgess for a visit before last season? They decided against signing him over medical concerns. Burgess had missed the 2003 season with a torn Achilles' tendon. There were concerns that he might be prone to re-injury. And so Burgess left Seattle without a contract. He headed down the coast and signed with Oakland, where he led the NFL in sacks with 16 last season. Burgess has seven sacks this season, including 2.5 against Pittsburgh last week. The Seahawks will have to commit extra personnel to deal with him Monday night. Burgess generally lines up on the left side of the defense. That means Tom Ashworth or Sean Locklear will be primarily responsible for him. It also means Jerramy Stevens probably won't spend as much time going out for passes.
