I haven't been 5-9 since junior high, but here I am, cut down to size after the worst week of predictions since the networks gave Florida to Al Gore in 2000. I'll need (John) Fox to carry the Sunshine State (Tampa Bay, actually) in the Monday night game just to get to 5-10.
Can't recall a worse week in nine years of doing this. That leaves me with a wholly disappointing 69-40 record picking games on the blog. My wife is 66-43 after going 7-7 over the weekend. We both have the Panthers tonight.
I'm speechless. As Mike Holmgren said after dropping the 2000 opener in Miami, 23-0: "We have to roll up our sleeves and get to work. We were not very good today. Of course, that's an understatement. We were inept and we will be better, we will get better, we will fix that."
The Hawks went out and lost a close one to the Rams the next week, for what it's worth.
