The Rams restored some order to the NFC West by beating the 49ers today. Seattle's upset loss at San Francisco put some wind in the 49ers' sails. A fourth consecutive victory by the 49ers might have made things more interesting down the stretch. Now the Rams and 49ers are both 5-6. Seattle can jump back out to a two-game cushion by beating the Packers on Monday night. The 49ers are improving. They just do not know how to finish games consistently. They had an 11-play, 7-plus-minute drive in the fourth quarter, only to settle for a field goal. That gave the Rams a chance to score the winning TD. Last week, the 49ers had major problems finishing off Seattle (late fumble, missed FG, etc), but the Seahawks had their own problems and could not capitalize. If the 49ers can keep improving, the NFC West could be fun again. Right now it's still Seattle's division to lose.
