Everyone knows Mike Holmgren's offense runs through the quarterback. We also know the offense has changed to exploit the things Shaun Alexander does well. Some of those things jumped out Monday night. They jumped out because we hadn't seen that type of performance this season.
We really haven't seen much of Alexander this season. That changed against the Packers. He carried 40 times for 201 yards and did not appear tired, testament to his make-them-miss running style. He appeared to be in sync with the line for the first time all season. His explanation: The foot he injured in the season opener is no longer bothering him.
After being tentative and never getting into a rhythm at San Francisco two weeks ago, Alexander was back closer to full speed against the Packers. Additional thoughts here.
