How do you think that you handled their pressure?
I thought that we handled their pressure pretty well for the most part. At times they just came with a three-man rush and dropped an extra man into coverage. They had our number a couple of times, gave us a number of things to think about.
How astonishing was it to get shut out in a game where they are missing their two best defensive players in Troy Polamalu and Casey Hampton?
Well I think that their scheme is such that they play a really good team defense so it wasn't like when I saw their inactive list I took a deep breath. Those guys are great players but you know that they are going to come out and play great team defense. Our defense really held on in the first half and just kept us in the game. I didn't play well enough and I have to play better.
You guys didn't use your time outs at the end of the first half?
Yeah, you can't take them with you. I probably have to look at the film there. I thought that we had two opportunities there on our last two plays but I just didn't execute them too well. I didn't throw a good pass on that last one that got intercepted. At the very least we should have come out of there with at least three points.
Never miss a local story.
What did you say to Anthony Smith after the play where he got the penalty for roughing you?
I said, "You almost just ended my season." I wasn't angry necessarily; I just dodged a bullet there.
How much did things change when (Deion) Branch went out?
It's tough because a big part of our package this week is four wides and Deion is kind of a primary receiver in our offense. We were mixing guys around and putting guys in different spots. We have to handle that and we have to do a better job. I have to handle that better.
