Sorry to just be getting to this. But here's the highlights from Mike Holmgren's press conference:
On Leonard Weaver replacing Mack Strong:
"Yeah, well he has to be the guy, and actually I'm very pleased on his progress, and I think I mentioned it last week, that it's funny how this business is at times. In the preseason I was disappointed in how he was going, and since we started playing games he has just gotten better and better, to the point now that I have a lot of confidence in him, he was playing more anyway, so now he's got to play a lot."
On Deion Branch's foot injury:
Never miss a local story.
"I believe him we'll have him back after the bye (week). He has mid-foot sprain, not unlike Leroy Hill's. So he'll miss the next two ballgames, we'll have the bye, and we'll have him back after the bye."
On the Pittsburgh loss:
"Pittsburgh is a good football team. It's one of those games, we didn't play that well I didn't think, and then they're pretty good. Put that together and you don't have a very good outcome."
On comparing this loss to last year's 37-6 loss to the Bears:
"The difference is our defense played well enough yesterday, I think the game should have been closer. They won, and they deserved to win, but the defense played enough had we done some stuff on offense it should have been closer of a game. In Chicago, that thing was nuts, it was over before it started kind of. I was referencing, this point of the season, losing a big game it's not the end of the world, you come back, you re-group, you get going again."
On some games just not working out:
"Some games, it's like it's not happening today. I think you can explain and analyze a lot of things, and some things it's hard to explain. This I know, we'll back bounce after this game, we have a high character group of guys who will work hard to fix it. We've been working all day, the coaches, to fix what we did wrong. It's ok, we will bounce back and keep the thing going."
