Kirkland, Wash. – The Seattle Seahawks have placed defensive tackle Chuck Darby on injured reserve and signed Howard Green to take his spot on the 53-man roster, the team announced this afternoon.
Darby started 34 of 36 games played since signing with Seattle in 2005 and posted 79 tackles (55 solo) and 6.5 sacks, with a career-high 3.5 sacks coming in 2006. In his seven NFL seasons he has 188 tackles (115 solo), 12 sacks, two forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries in 97 games played with 56 starts.
Green has played in 19 career games with 12 starts since being drafted in the sixth round (190th overall) of the 2002 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. He was released after camp and played in one game for the Baltimore Ravens before being released and picked back up by Houston. In 2003, he was released after camp and signed with New Orleans where he played in four games. Green saw his most playing time in 2004 for the Saints, starting 12 of 14 games with 53 tackles. Most recently, he was released by the Saints after camp in 2005, by Miami in 2006 and by Minnesota in 2007.
