(Thoughts on the game…) "It's obvious when you turned the ball over the way we have turned the ball over the first seven games, you can't win and we've proved that. We work on it, there are a lot of things that factor into it. A lot of it I would think this game, was the pressure they (Seattle) were able to create in the pass rush and (also) third and long. Sacks and a couple of the turnovers that were real critical were, forced fumbles in the pocket. (Marcus) Trufant made a real nice play on the first interception. But its still an interception. So until we fix that we'll continue to get the same result."
(Was this game the worst the team has looked on offense this season…) "I would say that last week wasn't very good either. But it was not good in a number of ways. Just numbers-wise, we had a number of errors. We had pre-snap penalties, as well as the turnovers, that created problems."
(Are there any quick fixes to the offensive problems…) If they were easy, we probably would have done them a long time ago. I think our biggest challenge is taking whatever steps we can to put ourselves in a position to win games. Number one is to protect the ball."
Never miss a local story.
(Why can't the team block better…) "That's a good question. We analyze that very thoroughly and it's a group of guys that haven't played together. And it goes to show you that when you have a group that is consistently working together as a group, you get better results. We have been in and out of different lineups and I think it creates a problem. It's obvious to me that, that is one of the areas that we struggle. And I think a lot of it has to do with that and we can do better, certainly. It's not getting done, there are some other things that are not getting done as well. We have to protect them in a number of ways."
(Do you think the team was ready today…) "I thought they were ready and tuned into the game. What happens is that the negative plays that are created with sacks, penalties and the turnovers. They take a lot out of guys. This is professional football, you gotta keep your focus and not let that affect you. I don't think we handled the crowd noise very well in the first half. That created a lot of problems for us and our ability to stay in the situations we wanted to stay in, which was not third and long. We put ourselves before we snapped the ball a number of times, in bad situations in the first half."
(Did the turnover and pressure on Bulger cost the team the game…) "You can put two and two together and it didn't help. But again, its an excuse."
(Thoughts on the defense…) "I think the defense is making a lot of improvement. It hasn't showed up in our record. It's an unfortunate thing. You have to call it like it is. We have improved in a lot of different areas. We have still got the offense struggling. The defense has to pick up the slack and vice-versa. I think guys are trying to do that. But we haven't been able to do it at this point."
