Seahawks win, 30-23 their second consecutive victory. The locker room was, predictably, pretty jovial. As Matt Hasslbeck said afterwards, after a win the training room is a virtual ghost town. After a loss, you can't find a table. Hasselbeck was not very specific about his injury, saying he doesn't know if it was the oblique or his ribs. Holmgren seemed to indicate it was his ribs. Obviously it didn't bother him a great deal because he was pretty impressive even after sustaining the injury.
Holmgren said the other injuries -- Kelly Jennings' knee and Rocky Bernard's concussion -- were not serious.
The defensive guys said there were not that many adjustments made in the second half in terms of getting to Grossman, it was more the way the game fell and that they got the lead and knew that they were going to have to throw the ball more to come back, particularly after they shut down the run game in the second half. Lofa said they just got caught in the wrong gap on that first Benson touchdown run, something that occasionally happens. Even down 10-0 they said they didn't feel like it was out of control. They came back against Arizone down 17-0, so nothing is unreachable.
Never miss a local story.
One thing I missed during the game is that Holmgren has made a switch from Burleson to Engram on punt returns that are likely to be fielded inside the 10. Holmgren said he wants more of a veteran presence back there and so if it is close Engram will get the call.
About DJ Hackett's day, Hasselbeck said, "He is making plays. If you make plays, you are going to continue to get the ball." Hasselbeck said the route Hackett ran on the 59-yard play was not even the right route, he varied the route he was supposed to run and Matt somehow threaded the ball in there for the long play.
This was a good quote from Matt about Josh Brown making that tackle of Devin Hester: "It gives him something to talk about on his Tuesday radio show. You can't talk about kicking the whole time."
Mo Morris was very unquotable in his postgame, as was Hackett, which is usually the case. What happens this week with Shaun should be interesting, obviously a topic of discussion because Morris had 87 yards -- the same amount as last week -- on 18 carries, a 4.8 average with a long of 19 yards, which was his TD run.
I have to get cracking on my daily stuff, I'll file quotes and stuff along the way.
Remember, keep the discussion to football, which should be much easier given the positive outcome of the game. Management thanks you ahead of time for your contributions.
