Practice once again was outside on a sunny, brisk day. As we wrote in the previous post, QB Matt Hasselbeck got a lot of reps with the first team on a day that he was only scheduled to get some throws on the side. As Matt said, I thought he looked pretty good, he didn't look at all hindered by the rib injury, though he said he didn't do everything he wanted to do today because they had not planned on him being out there for so long.
Everybody else but Will Herring and Shaun Alexander were back practicing, including Walter Jones, Rocky Bernard and D.J. Hackett, though Hackett kept messing with a wrap on his swollen left knee. Still, it didn't seem to hinder his ability to run routes. C.J. Wallace was practicing with a brace on his leg.
Instead of Seneca Wallace running the scout team, Charlie Frye ran it, probably because Seneca was supposed to run the first team until Matt unexpectedly took so many reps. It meant that Seneca did not get a lot of work in on Friday.
Shaun Alexander, ruled out for Sunday's game, may not even travel with the team. Holmgren said he was going to speak with Shaun after practice.
Right after practice, Mike Holmgren tried to give out game balls but the fella who is in charge of game balls accidentally left them in his car in the parking lot. "Don't worry," Holmgren ribbed him, "I'll just talk to the team until you get back. Take your time."
Once they arrived, they were given to Patrick Kerney on defense, Maurice Morris on offense and Ryan Plackemeier on special teams. I was surprised that Hackett didn't get the one for offense given that he had a career day.
