Just handed this press release:
Former Seahawks fullback Mack Strong has undergone successful neck fusion surgery on Sunday, the team announced.
Strong had felt some pain last week and underwent an MRI on Friday. The exam revealed the herniated discs in his neck, suffered in Pittsburgh on Oct. 7, had herniated further.
After consulting with Dr. Sohail K. Mirza of HarborView Medical Center and team physician Stan Herring, Strong decided to have the surgery to protect the integrity of his spinal cord.
A herniated disc was removed and this third and fourth cervical vertebrae were fused.
Strong, who is resting comfortably, is expected to make a full recovery.
