Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren said Lofa Tatupu suffered a bone bruise on his knee. He will not play Friday against Oakland but he should be OK for the season opener.
Frye could play this Friday, Holmgren said, though he then backed off and would not say if he definitively is playing. He kind of suggested Seneca Wallace and Dalton Bell would get the majority of the snaps but also said that Frye may play. A bit ambiguous but I guess the point is that Frye could play if he was needed.
Seneca said he was not expecting to play against the Chargers until he saw Frye get hurt, and he was surprised when he had to go in and start tossing passes. He said he expected to play on Friday anyway and that is healed from his groin injury and ready to go.
As for Bell, he didn't look too good in practice. He tends to throw the ball high to receivers, which means there are interceptions aplenty. I will detail that in a later post, but Holmgren doesn't even seem to get angry when Bell throws pick, he just starts coaching the defensive backs on what they are supposed to do on the interception returns. Holmgren almost seems resigned to the fact. Should be interesting on Friday if he sees a lot of time against the Raiders.
