The NFL's official Seahawks snap counts from last night's game shows Marshawn Lynch ended up playing 44 of Seattle's final 60 plays, after missing the first seven trying to get his tight back loosened on the sideline by riding a stationary bike. Robert Turbin ran the six of the first seven snaps as the tailback, with Percy Harvin moving from wide receiver on one snap during Seattle's opening drive. Once Lynch entered, Turbin got just eight snaps over the Seahawks' final 60 plays. So obviously Lynch's back loosened after the tight beginning.
Max Unger left with an apparently minor foot injury, missing only the final three plays of Seattle's drive to a touchdown that made it 24-10 in the fourth quarter. Stephen Schilling from Bellevue made his Seahawks center debut for those three plays; the position the former San Diego Charger began playing for Seattle in mid-August. Unger returned for Seattle's final drive.
With starter Zach Miller out a few weeks following ankle surgery, fill-in Luke Willson played a career-high 63 snaps. Elevated No. 3 tight end Cooper Helfet had 17 snaps last night, many of those in two-tight ends sets with Willson.
On defense, Marcus Burley continued to play a far larger role than Seattle expected when it traded a sixth-round draft choice to Indianapolis for him on Aug. 30 -- and continued to show how the trade has been a coup by coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider. Burley played in two-thirds of the Seahawks' snaps as the nickel back inside, as they were again in five-defensive back sets for a majority of a game against a team employing three and four wide receivers for a preponderance of the time.
Michael Bennett keeps proving he's an almost-every down defensive lineman, able to play outside at end on running downs and inside at times as a pass rusher. Bennett played 48 of Seattle's 55 defensive snaps.
