The Seattle Seahawks vaulted to the top of the Matt Flynn sweepstakes this morning.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Seahawks will host Flynn on Thursday and Friday.
Seattle had been considered out of the running when the opening of free agency began, with Cleveland and Miami considered the only bidders for Flynn’s services.But Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that the Browns are not in the Matt Flynn sweepstakes, leaving Miami and now Seattle as the only potential suitors.
Shefter also reports that Chad Henne is expected to visit Seattle later today.
Mark Craig of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune is reporting that former Seattle Seahawks tight end John Carlson will make a visit to the Minnesota Vikings later today.
Coming off a shoulder injury that forced him to miss an entire season, Carlson surprisingly is a hot commodity during free agency. He already has a visit scheduled for Kansas City today, and teams like Chicago and Indianapolis remain interested. Seattle also would like to have him back.Carlson grew up in nearby Litchfield, Minn.
Pete Prisco of CBS Sports lists the Seahawks as one of the winners in the first day of free agency for re-signing Red Bryant.
