I can confirm that Tennessee Titans defensive end Jason Jones is in town. I think he’s an interesting prospect for the Seahawks, and could fill that role of an inside pass rusher that Seattle has been looking for.
At 6-foot-5 and 276 pounds, Jones can play both outside at defensive end and inside at 3-tech during passing situations. I see the Seahawks using Jones similarly to the way Anthony Hargrove was used in the defensive line rotation, and the way they intended to use Jimmy Wilkerson had he not injured his knee during the preseason.
He’s young at 25 years old. And he’s had pretty good production, finishing with 27 tackles, three sacks and five pass deflections in 13 starts last year for the Titans.
The question becomes how much does Seattle value Jones? Are they willing to pay him $9 to $10 million in guaranteed money like they committed to Brandon Mebane, and for how many years?
Also, ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Matt Flynn has scheduled a trip to Miami after his trip to Seattle today and tomorrow. So it’s looking like the Dolphins have finally come to the realization they are not in play for Peyton Manning, and are now turning their full attention to Flynn.
Which means the price for Flynn just got higher.
Also, the report below is probably one of the reasons Steve Hutchinson is in Tennessee instead of Seattle.
