The Seahawks have confirmed that the injury to left tackle Russell Okung is a torn pectoral muscle. There's been no word on if that means IR or surgery, yet. Recent torn pecs to Lofa Tatupu and Rob Sims were season-enders.
As for the question about Okung and Trent Cole, yes, word is that Okung had to be restrained after the game when he wanted to get after Cole, torn pec or not.
Looking at the line, now, the only starter who has not faced serious injury or surgery is center Max Unger, and he suffered a foot injury earlier in the season that landed him in a boot. Robert Gallery needed groin surgery, but managed to get back into the lineup.
Interestingly, the Rams team that the Hawks play next also is missing its starting tackles due to injuries.
Carroll's contention that the functional effectiveness of the line in the absence of Moffitt and Carpenter was a symbol of improved depth. Hard to argue. Breno Giacomini has used this chance to his benefit. He's a tough cookie, combative, eager to mix it up. But after his penalty-filled game against Washington, he showed impressive discipline several times against the Eagles when defenders tried to lure him into a scrap. Giacomini played well against Chris Long in the last meeting with St. Louis. The staff has talked about like Jarriel King as either a tackle or a guard, so he might be given a chance now.
The Hawks at least will have some time to try to shop for some line depth as they don't play until the Rams come to town a week from Monday.
