Light day for Seahawks news as they’re off today. It can still be important to them, though, as NFC West Division leaders San Francisco (4-1) visit undefeated Detroit this morning. A 49ers defeat would bring the Seahawks (2-3) to within a game in the loss column.
The Detroit Free Press had a nice story on former Seahawks guard Rob Sims and how he has become an important ingredient in the chemistry of the newly successful Lions. I thought Sims showed early promise before being injured and subjected to some staffing/scheme changes. I always thought when he was let go that the Hawks would have been better off keeping him and shipping center Chris Spencer.
Monday will be an interesting day for Seahawks fans as we’ve had mostly a news embargo as the Hawks have been gone for bye week since Wednesday. We should get some status updates on key injuries to Tarvaris Jackson, Zach Miller and Marcus Trufant. It is also the times when guard Robert Gallery was expected to return from groin surgery.
The window opens for making decision on players on the PUP list, such as Cameron Morrah, Deon Butler and Roy Lewis.
Never miss a local story.
I had a great interview with Hawk defensive lineman Anthony Hargrove last week, and the column on it is scheduled to run in the TNT Monday. His path from a troubled past to redemption is not only interesting but, from my perspective, inspiring. Seahawk teammates love his attitude and effort, and, as his safety in the Giants game displayed, he's capable of coming up with big plays.
