Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network is reporting that the Seattle Seahawks have told veteran receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh they will release him if they cannot make a trade with another team by Saturday.
This is what I expected after talking to Houshmandzadeh last night. It's doubtful a team will trade for him when they know they can sign him for much cheaper once the Seahawks release Houshmandzadeh because of his $7 million salary for 2010.
So it looks like the Mike Williams era has officially began in Seattle. Young receivers Deon Butler and Golden Tate also will benefit from this move.
La Canfora says potential landing spots for Houshmandzadeh include Oakland, Washington and Minnesota.
